Having just finished my first I-Search paper I feel like I have learned a lot from this style of writing. My favorite part of the I-Search is being able to tell your story and how you found the needed information. I thought this made writing the paper much more exciting. I also loved being able to pick a topic that is something I enjoy. I didn’t feel like I was pulling hair to get words on the paper they flowed as if I were making a presentation. This relates to the world of novels which I already know about. I think that reading novels has helping me when writing a more story like paper, which is what I feel like my I-Search was. I have learned much about templates from the text “they-say-I-say” that I have not learned in other classes. I will take this book as well as the knowledge of how to use it with me on my journey through college writing. As I will hopefully get more familiar with MLA formatting, that is my biggest obstacle when completing the writing in my I-Search. I over came it by using sources on the internet such as, easybib.com and an MLA formatting book I borrowed from a friend. As a writer I have a lot to accomplish. I need to stay on subject with my papers and make sure the mid section containing most of the information, is larger than the introduction and conclusion. I also feel like I get bored when writing this section of the paper and my personality gets dull. These are a few things I need to improve on not including the MLA lessons I mentioned earlier. I will take many lessons from this class with me to other subject areas.
